About Dr. Barbara Hensley

Barbara J. Hensley, Ed.D., served on the EMDR International Association Board of Directors as President and Treasurer and has represented EMDRIA in Stockholm, Sweden and Brussels, Belgium in these capacities.  She is a past member of the EMDR Foundation Board of Directors.  She is an EMDRIA-Certified Therapist and Approved Consultant and past Regional Coordinator for the Greater Cincinnati EMDRIA Regional Network.

Dr. Barbara J. Hensley is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in private practice.  Her Master's Degree, Advanced Graduate Degree, and Doctorate are in Clinical Counseling from the University of Cincinnati.  Dr. Hensley also has undergraduate degrees from Miami University of Ohio (BA, English) and University of Cincinnati (BS, Accounting).  Previous to becoming a full-time Clinical Counselor, Dr. Hensley worked 30 years as an Information Technology (IT) professional for the State of Ohio, Department of Transportation.  For many years, Dr. Hensley has worked for the EMDR Institute, Inc. as a Facilitator and Logistician for training in Japan and throughout the United States.  She also is the 2009 recipient of the distinguished Francine Shapiro Award for her extraordinary service and contributions to EMDR, the author of An EMDR Therapy Primer: From Practicum to Practice (3rd ed.), and a contributor to journal articles in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research.  Dr. Hensley is co-founder of the Cincinnati Trauma Connection in Cincinnati, Ohio, a trauma-based psychological center.
