Auch im Bereich der EMDR-Therapie wurde die Entwicklung genau verfolgt. Der Therapieansatz wurde angepasst und weiterentwickelt, um auch in schwierigen Situationen und bei Menschen mit unterschiedlichem kulturellem, religiösem und sprachlichem Hintergrund anwendbar zu sein. In diesem Artikel wird der Beitrag der EMDR-Therapie zur Psychotherapie untersucht. Dazu werden praktische Erfahrungen und wissenschaftliche Veröffentlichungen beschrieben, die ihre Wirksamkeit belegen. Wie wir feststellen konnten, haben viele Menschen, die ein traumatisches Ereignis überlebt haben, diese Erfahrungen überwinden und weiterleben können. Es ist wichtig, die verschiedenen Stadien zu berücksichtigen, die Patient*innen in Stressreaktionen durchlaufen, und zu prüfen, welche Art der Intervention am besten geeignet ist, um die Resilienz der Betroffenen zu stärken und ein posttraumatisches Wachstum zu ermöglichen. Insbesondere Minderjährige und die gefährdetsten Bevölkerungsgruppen benötigen spezielle psychologische Interventionen, die dem Trauma entsprechen und die Symptome reduzieren, die Patient*innen stabilisieren und die Entwicklung persönlicher und gemeinschaftlicher Schutzfaktoren ermöglichen, die die Widerstandsfähigkeit fördern. In der wissenschaftlichen Literatur zu diesem Thema wird hervorgehoben, wie wichtig es ist, in den verschiedenen Traumaphasen entsprechend zu intervenieren, um psychischen Störungen vorzubeugen, Risikofaktoren zu minimieren und vor allem die posttraumatische Anpassung sowie Entwicklung zu fördern. Inzwischen wurde EMDR in verschiedenen Traumasituationen angewandt, auch in humanitären Notsituationen mit gefährdeten Bevölkerungsgruppen, in unterschiedlichen Traumaphasen, in Einzelund Gruppenbehandlung. <br /><br />In recent years, we have seen the development of knowledge, tools, and even international guidelines that emphasise the significance of psychological treatment following personal and collective traumatic experiences. Developments in the field of EMDR therapy have also been closely followed. The therapeutic approach has been adjusted and further developed to allow application in the most difficult of situations and for people with different cultural, religious, and linguistic backgrounds. This article investigates the contribution of EMDR to psychotherapy. Both practical experiences and scientific publications will be described, and their efficiency documented. We observed that many people who have survived a traumatic event are able to overcome their experiences and continue with their life. It is important to consider the various stress reaction stages that patients go through and then assess which type of intervention is best suited to strengthen the resilience of those affected and enable post-traumatic growth. Minors and the most at-risk population groups require special psychological interventions that correspond to the trauma suffered and reduce symptoms, stabilise the patient, and enable the development of personal and collective protective factors to promote resilience. The scientific literature on this topic highlights the importance of the correct form of intervention during the corresponding trauma phase to prevent the development of psychological disorders, reduce risk factors, and promote post-traumatic adjustment and development. EMDR has now been used in a wide range of trauma situations, including humanitarian emergencies involving vulnerable population groups, in different trauma phases, and during both individual and group therapy. As the community gathered in shock, 600+ therapists and other professional care givers mobilized to treat trauma and support the community’s resiliency. The Greater Orlando TRN (#35+) and Greater Orlando Regional Network (#100+) did respond but faced many limitations in gaining access to those who could most benefit from EMDR early intervention therapy, EEI. The media reported nonstop but rarely discussed EMDR therapy. Enormous donations were managed by a governmental agency but the funds were not distributed to the TRN or other groups of EMDR therapists. Referral sources were skeptical of adding the TRN volunteer list to their distributed list of available therapy options. EMDR therapists across the Orlando community have been providing quality EI services in different settings both paid and volunteer, even now, 2 years later.
