Teaching EMDR in graduate schools and agency sites

In this workshop Curtis Rouanzoin, Ph.D., Laurel Parnell, Ph.D., William Covi, Ph.D., and Robert Miller, M.A., M.F.C.C., all of whom have taught EMDR in either Graduate or Agency/Internship settings will discuss how they adapted the training to these type of settings. They will each present how they structured their courses, the setting they taught in and their syllabi. They will discuss what worked and what did not work in their courses and offer suggestions for future courses. Issues that come up in these settings, such as how to structure the practica, teaching abreactions, and issues of dual relationships will be discussed and recommendations for addressing those issues will be offered by the presenters. The pros and cons of teaching EMDR in graduate schools and agency/internships will be discussed. After the initial presentations, the workshop will be open to questions, answers and feedback from the participants. This is a yearly ongoing information gathering session where a lively exchange of ideas will be welcomed. The EMDRIA Criteria for teaching EMDR in these settings will also be distributed and discussed.
