Clinical applications of EMDR in treating survivors of sexual abuse

Description

This presentation will focus on integrating EMDR into an overall recovery plan in working with sexual abuse survivors. Treatment planning and pacing will be addressed in view of diagnosis, presenting problem, and client capacities. Cognitive interweave strategies for facilitating movement through the various stages of treatment will also be discussed. Attention will be given to designing EMDR interventions to assist clients with specific recovery tasks and/or challenges i.e., grieving, clarifying responsibility, directing anger, re-establishing trust.
