No one knows what the final verdict on EMDR will be. Given thc enormous pressure to make therapy ever briefer, it seems certain to be given plenty of opportunity to prove itself in the years to come. For now, the most promising thing about EMDR is not what it suggestsabout the power of therapy or the cleverness o f therapists, but about unsuspected capacities for self-renewal that dwell within each of us.
