Eye movement desensitisation reprocessing (EMDR)

Description

The article discusses the trauma-focused psychological therapy for PTSD that was recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence in Great Britain. The development of the eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) as a psychological treatment to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories is explored. EMDR facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories to bring an adaptive resolution of negative beliefs of physiological arousal.
