An open trial of EMDR as treatment for chronic PTSD

Description

In a prepilot study, 8 adults with chronic PTSD underwent 3 90-minute sessions of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) at 1-week intervals in an open trial. None of the 7 who completed treatment met criteria for current PTSD 2 months later. Significant decreases in measures of pathology and disturbance were recorded. A controlled trial of EMDR is under way.
