Eye Movement desensibilización y reprocesamiento [EMDR] fue desarrollado originalmente para el tratamiento de recuerdos traumáticos. Este procedimiento incluye la exposición imaginación, el reprocesamiento cognitivo y estimulación bilateral inicialmente decidió considerando inducida por los movimientos oculares. Although there are many studies supporting its effectiveness, very little is known about the underlying mechanisms. EMDR is one of the techniques recognized by the American Psychological Association [APA] as effective for treating posttraumatic stress disorder [PTSD] and some studies have proved its effectiveness in the treatment of other mental health problems.
