Description

Portions of this chapter are modified from EMDR and the relational imperative: The therapeutic relationship in EMDR treatment, by Mark Dworkin, for The Clinical Awareness Questionnaire [2005a], pp. 247-252) Whenever an EMDR treatment session becomes problematic, consider this self-administered instrument when reflecting on this session. EMDR consultants can also use this measure in their consulting groups to assist consultees in understanding when work with clients have an impact on the therapist. The purpose of using the Clinician Self-Awareness Questionnaire includes the following: (a) To assist in raising awareness of what may be triggering the therapist. (b) To assess what may be coming from the therapist and what may be coming from the client. (c) To develop EMDR relational strategies.
