Description

In Southeast Asia there was a huge, spectacular, solid gold statue of the Buddha that was covered up with plaster so that war-time intruders wouldn’t realize its worth and steal or harm it. Centuries later, a flood caused a crack in the status and revealed something shining beneath. When the hardened material was thoroughly removed, the witnesses were astonished by the golden sculpture. Our true nature and its brilliance are also covered, but by layers of defenses, stuck emotions, symptoms and distorted beliefs that fool us into thinking we are something we are not. With EMDR, our inborn healing mechanism helps us to rediscover our True Self which, despite life’s slings and arrows, has remained unscathed. The greatest thrill of practicing psychotherapy is in witnessing those who have known deep suffering rest peacefully in the comforting arms of their spirit and inner beauty.
