Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

Description

The first time I read about EMDR I thought it was nonsense, but Gordon Bowers, who investigated it, assure me that it was a real phenomenon. Dr. Francine Shapiro, the developer of this system, has been busy explaing EMDR to many peope, and it is probably the fastest growing system of therapy currently, although as yet its basic theory and method are not explained, at least to my satisfactions. There seems to be two levels of use of EMDR: pure use for immediate resolution and other psychotherapeutic methods, and EMDR for more deeply set problems. Dr. Inobe in her explanation spends a good deal of time giving a good summary relative to research, although it has not yet been accepted by some people, with varying explanations including placebo effect. While the mehtodolody is well explained in seven phases, advertisements aobut this system warn against trying the system without appropriate training. Anyone reading about this system will realize such advice is sound.
