EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) representa unha nova modalidade de tratamento de traumas e lembranzasemocionais desenvolta plola doutora Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., nos fins dos década de 80, nos Estados Unidos. Trátase dun método de desensibilización e reprocessamento de experiencias emocionalmente traumáticas por medio da estimulación bilateral do cerebro. Este artigo ten como obxectivo expor de maneira introdutoria os fundamentos e método de tratamento seguido en EMDR, e finalizando con algun exemplo tomadi da prática clínica da primeiro autora.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) represents a new modality of treatment of traumas and painful memories developed by Francine Shapiro, Ph.D., at the end of the 80’s, in the United States. It is a method of desensitization and reprocessing of emotionally charged experiences by means of bilateral stimulation of the brain. This article gives an introductory explanation for the basis and treatment with EMDR, and finalizes with some examples taken from the clinical practice of the first author.
