Using eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) as a therapeutic intervention for sex addicts

This master's project examined the efficacy of using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) treatment on clients with sexual addictions, including the pathology, addiction cycle, family background, thought processes, and traumatic history of many sex addicts, as well as current therapies for treating sex addicts today. The project included a review of EMDR, and its effectiveness as part of a treatment plan for sex addicts. The application proposed EMDR as a treatment via therapeutic dialogue with a sex-addicted client. Finally, this project reviewed the strengths and limitations of EMDR for sex addicts, as well as implications for counselors.
