Forensic uses of EMDR: EMDR with offenders placed in supported accommodation as an alternative to remand

Within Alternative to Remand Accommodation EMDR is used as the primary psychological intervention where the offending behaviour is linked to trauma with subsequent polysubstance dependence. EMDR is conducted within the individuals’ accommodation and without sessional time constraint allowing processing of each target without the risk of containing an incomplete session. Thus far all those that have completed the 13 week alternative to remand programme with EMDR have not only NOT re-offended but have also overcome their polysubstance dependence.
