When, and how to use the ‘Blind to Therapist’ EMDR protocol

Description

The Blind to Therapist (B2T) EMDR protocol is now well-established (e.g. Blore & Holmshaw 2009, Blore et al 2013). It allows clinicians to conduct EMDR without knowing any of the visual or cognitive details of distressing memories and as such makes EMDR unique in psychotherapy. The uses of the B2T protocol are still being identified, but currently include: executive decision makers’ perceived loss of control, shame and embarrassment, vicarious traumatisation, translator dynamics in treatment, and aphasia.
