The growth of EMDR in Asia: Opportunities and challenges

Description

EMDR therapy, as a form of treatment, as a topic of research, and as a professional movement, has seen an amazing growth over the past two decades. These developments have taken place while facing major difficulties that exist until the present day. The talk will provide an overview of the current status of EMDR Therapy in the professional and scientific worlds (mostly in the USA and Europe), and the challenges that EMDR Therapy is facing in these realms. The latter part of the talk will focus on the status of EMDR Therapy in Asia. The idea that the Asian continent may be the place where EMDR Therapy may have its biggest impact on human welfare will be presented, as well as the steps that both the Asian and International EMDR communities need to take to make this vision into a reality.
