Introducing trauma therapy in Asia - Practical experience

Description

Since 2002 Trauma Aid has organized and implemented trainings in Psychotraumatology and EMDR in Asia and other countries; the main objective was to train local psychologists to treat people in need who would not have access to this kind of service otherwise. The basic structure of the teaching model was maintained in each country though adjustments to the local specific situations had to be made. In last projects Trauma-Aid could give trained local therapists the opportunity to treat traumatized clients in various government institutions and NGOs, thus incorporating the new aspects and the new knowledge of trauma-therapy and the new knowledge into the system and into the society. The trained staff remains for the duration of the project under the guidance and supervision of the trainers of Trauma Aid who thus tried to guarantee the quality of the service and could offer further trainings when required. The presentation will detail the training program and discuss first results of an evaluation of the trainings and projects by a questionnaire given to former participants.
