Working with youth survivors of sexual abuse perpetrated by a religious leader

This paper investigated the psychosocial effects of 8 youth sexual abuse survivors perpetrated by prominent religious leader in the capital of Jakarta. Based on the investigation, I planned some treatment recommendations. I found that some themes were important and more urgent to be treated rather than Posttraumatic Stress symptoms. Those themes are: crisis of faith, disinhibition reaction and prematurely sexual behaviour. This article makes recommendations about several stabilization techniques and EMDR treatment based on these research findings. All clients showed improvement by conducting stabilization techniques. Only few clients were able to take advantage of EMDR full protocol sessions.
