La ciencia cognitiva de la emoción y la aproximación psicoterapeutica EMDR en el tratamiento de la depresión. Una breve revisión teórica The cognitive science of emotion and EMDR psychotherapeutic approach in the treatment of depression. A brief theoretical review

El presente artículo aborda el tema de la depresión, que está considerada una prioridad de salud pública por la Organización Mundial de la Salud debido a su alto índice de prevalencia. A partir del área de la ciencia cognitiva de la emoción, específicamente dentro del enfoque representacional del conocimiento, se revisa la aproximación psicoterapéutica EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, en español Desensibilización y Reprocesamiento a través del Movimiento Ocular) en sus antecedentes, su modelo teórico, su utilidad y su aplicación en el tratamiento de ese trastorno emocional. Enlazando el enfoque cognitivo-emocional a la práctica clínica con dicha intervención, se señala la importancia de integrar el conocimiento en las ciencias a fin de obtener beneficios mutuos, de generar innovaciones y de mantener unidas la ciencia, la investigación científica y la práctica clínica.

This article addresses the topic of depression, which is considered a public health priority by the World Health Organization because of its high prevalence rate. From the area of cognitive science of emotion, specifically within the representational approach to knowledge, the psychotherapeutic approach EMDR is reviewed (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, in Spanish Desensitization and Reprocessing by Eye Movement) in their backgrounds, the model theory, its utility and its application in the treatment of this emotional disorder. Linking cognitive-emotional to clinical practice with such intervention, focus the importance of integrating knowledge in the sciences in order to get mutual benefits, to generate innovations and to hold together science, scientific research and clinical practice notes.
