Enhancing EMDR for tech age kids

Description

The workshop demonstrates how EMDR can be more creatively and effectively delivered to kids of all ages, taking into account their individual and developmental differences and diverse cultural and religious groups. Case examples and videotaped segments show treatment of children ranging in age from latency through late adolescence from different socioeconomic and ethnic groups. This workshop specifically demonstrates how to facilitate effective processing at all stages of EMDR therapy, from history taking through follow up. At the desensitization stage, the use of technology is demonstrated for bilateral stimulation while focusing on a memory, to engage active participation in the EMDR process and maintain interest without overactive engagement by the therapist. Videotaped clinical material will be used to demonstrate all phases of treatment. For instance, technology enhanced identification of current problem issues and past feeder memories, interweaves during desensitization, resource development for post processing maintenance and use of apps at follow up stage, such as appropriate websites for information (e.g. suicide prevention, anorexia support) and resource apps for affect management.
