Resource and development installation, beyond vividness of image

Resource and Development Installation was proposed by Leeds (2009) as an intervention for the stabilization phase of the standard EMDR protocol. Currently, some European countries have questioned the need for bilateral stimulation (BLS) in this procedure. Basic research on BLS shows a decrease in intensity of image vividness (Hornsveld et al. 2011, 2012). These studies were not done on a clinical population, and positive images were selected by researchers. Other potential variables, such as intensity of emotions or sensations, were not analyzed. Our study explores if BLS is, in fact, an active ingredient of the classical RDI procedure. Additional variables to image vividness have been measured. All participants were undergoing a therapeutic process and were randomly assigned to a RDI vs RDI+BLS groups.
