Use of technology by EMDR Europe practitioners in France
Description
EMDR therapy involves intensive production of left /right eye movements, or left/right knee tapping, with or without sound or left/right tactile vibrations. Whatever the means of stimulation, it causes intensive production of eye movements, auditory, somatosensory and proprioceptive signals throughout the central nervous system. Electronic devices and PC software have been developed for producing such stimulations. They allow reproducible stable stimulation, perhaps with less fatigue and more attention to the patient. However, opposite arguments can also be made. Such controversial issue raises important questions about psychotherapy and neurosciences.
