Kenny Slaught - The new EMDR therapy to help people with PTSD
Description
Prominent entrepreneur and community philanthropist, Kenny Slaught has recently shared his views on the new state-of-the-art therapy available for veterans at Hospice of Santa Barbara on his blog at KennySlaught.com. Highly regarded by Slaught as the remedy for people with history of trauma and referred to as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), the modality has been used effectively to treat veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The therapy uses eye movements in a unique way to process trauma and reframe the raw, vivid imagery associated with it in the hippocampus. As a result, the brain "re-files" the painful memory and individuals can deal with the trauma in a more objective manner.
