Welcome, journal readers, to the Summer Issue! This issue marks the start of the second full year of management and ownership of the journal by Sage Publications. I trust that you are enjoying the improvements throughout. Readers of this issue (especially members of the Green Cross Academy, who receive it as a membership benefit) will appreciate the wisdom offered here: Three regular articles, a report from the field, and two media reviews. Each reading should inform those who work with the traumatized. As a result, you will be more conscious of the variety of responses among survivors of trauma, the role of community services in response to violence, the struggles of displaced people in terms of family separation and attachment, and the challenges of serving a special needs population in the wake of mandated evacuation. The two books selected for review were evaluated by practitioners experienced with disasters and trauma practice in general. Speaking of practice, it is important to be aware of the controversy in the traumatology field’s learned society regarding what constitute best practices and the process by which this is determined.
