Efficacy of an EMDR protocol on severe post-traumatic symptomatology in a refugees and asylum seekers population, in Italy and Jordan: Preliminary data

Description

To find a psychotherapeutic method to treat post-traumatic symptoms in refugees and asylum seekers population is at the present a major need, and a main and necessary task; it has to satisfy the requirements of being effective, reasonably short, easy to be trained in, manualized, and validated. The aim of this Presentation is to illustrate preliminary data of a research conducted to test an EMDR protocol for recent events in refugee samples of different contexts and ages: Refugees in Italy (with no more than 1 year stay), and refugees living out of refugees camps of Jordan. Both samples will be tested (after a phase of stabilization) with R-TEP protocol. The different contexts in which the therapeutic intervention would be made could be decidedly important, such as to bias possibly different results to the same intervention.
