EMDR with complex trauma and dissociative disorder: A two-axis treatment structure for a safe therapy journey for clients and therapists

Description

Through videos and clinical material, we will observe the evolution of children who received interventions, in which developmental experiences before the age of 6 or 7, were particularly taken into account, as well as the procedimental memories developed until that age. After having survived the most difficult, clients with complex and chronic trauma are often felt as challenging for therapists, although their willingness to help and lessen their suffering. Based on the Adaptive Information Processing methodology, the Theory of Structural Dissociation of the Personality and a solution focused attitude aimed to rise the cooperation system, this treatment structure allows therapists to adapt to the emerging phenomenology of their clients, without getting lost. Whatever comes up can be integrated in a clear structure where EMDR can be used to go step by step, safely but continuously, the pathway about what is important to the client.
