Exploration of problems faced by school children (in addition to PTSD) at pre-intervention stage using EMDR group protocol

Description

The data presented in this paper is part of large pool of data generated during group intervention in Srinagar after devastating floods in 2014. With the help of technical support of Dr. Rosalie Thomas and Dr. Ignacio Jarero a 2 days comprehensive Integrative Group Protocol (EMDR-IGTP) was developed and implemented. The total number of participants of the study were 605 (338 boys and 267girls). The age range of the participants was between7years to 16 years. Modified version of Child Psychopathology Measurement Schedule by Savita Malhotra (2002) was used. The problems listed were from the domains of beahviour, conduct, anxiety, depression, severe emotional problems, and physical/somatic. The rating of participants was done by class teachers from grade 1 to grade 10.The data thus generated was a frequency data of issues faced by boys and girls of different grades from either experimental or control group as responded by their respective class teachers. The trend of the results show that overall anxiety, depression and conduct problem frequency was higher than other domains and girls manifested fewer problems compared to boys at pre intervention stage.
