Evolving concepts of psychodermatology: A look at eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy and patients with psychosis

Description

The lecture will give an overview of the framework of psychodermatology which highlights the role of stress and flares of chronic skin diseases. A paper on psychoneuroimmunology of stress and atopic dermatitis is discussed to provide a working framework of Stress and Flare of Skin Diseases. However reduction of stress does not impact significantly on psychological symptoms nor dermatological symptoms. Perhaps this model is missing another domain? Perhaps trauma could be included in the working model? From this revised working model of the role of trauma, stress and psoriasis, the author will discuss his findings on EMDR on patients with Psoriasis. Patients reported significant psychological changes and some reported improvement in dermatological lesions.
