Research papers: Sexual trauma

Description

EMDR rape treatment generally follows the standard protocol, which, while highly effective in resolving many of the presenting symptoms, may be limited in its ability to resolve those that are specific to rape. Yet, not much has been written in the EMDR literature about such rape-specific factors. Therefore, for the sake of optimizing treatment, the present paper presents original research that establishes rape-specific peritraumatic reactions that distinguish this particular trauma from others, and outlines relevant implications for EMDR therapy with this population.
