Benefits and mitigated risks of intensive treatment for early trauma treatment

Description

As more EMDR therapists experiment with the intensive treatment format, it is important that predictable and known risks of the format be mitigated with understanding, structure and preparation. This workshop addresses a) reasons the format may be beneficial for some and contraindicated for others, b) predictable hazards including reenactments of abandonment trauma, decompensation, unreliable reporting, and work incompletion, c) ways to mitigate the risks, d) how to structure the work with introductions, breaks, closures, and follow up status checks that render the format safe, ethical and ergonomically appropriate, e) having a therapist back home for any needed additional care.
