小児科におけるEMDR介入の有効性と課題 : 3事例を通してEffectiveness and challenges of EMDR intervention in pediatrics: Our experience through three case studies

Description

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) has already been considered as evidence-based treatment intervention in the realm of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); however, clinical efficacy of EMDR in pediatrics remains an underdetermined issue. Our paper demonstrates our experience in dealing with three conspicuous cases of school trauma utilizing EMDR in pediatrics.

School children in all three caes received scolding or harsh treatment from teachers which became trauma, and somatic symptoms appeared.  Their traumatic experience made it difficult for them to stay in class.  As a result, they were isolated from social supports, which prolonger their problems.  Application of EMDR utilizing "t-trauma" and emotional stuck points (ESPs) seemed effective in removing the children's fear and anger toward tachers, the sense of safety and proper responsibility were re-estaoished and their somatic symptoms vanished.

Successful outcomes of treatment in our cases rather imply that instructions from teaches can lead to trauma, and social supports as necessary.  We considered the significance and ideas when utilizing EMDR in pediatrics, and suggested that EMDR can be highly recommended for pediatric clients.

To confirm our findings, further studies of EMDR in pediatrics are needed.
