Efficacy of intervention through EMDR group protocol in reduction of trauma in school children: Comparison of SUDs score from initial to final stage

Description

The data that is presented here is a part of the large pool of data gathered during the course of intervention work carried out in Srinagar after floods during 2014. With the help of technical support of Dr Rosalie Thomas (Trauma recovery/HAP) and Dr lghacio Jarero a 2 days comprehensive Integrative Group Protocol (EMDR-IGTP) was developed and implemented. Out of 3500 participants of this study 881 school children were selected as sample intervention group to ease the analysis. The age range of the participants was between 7 years to 16 years. Both boys and girls participated in the study. The results were analysed comparing the SUDs at initial stage (i.e. point A) with the SUDs at terminal stage (i.e. at point D). It was found that out of 881 participants- in 590 participants (67%) the SUDS were reduced from initial stage to terminal stage. In 144 participants (16%) the SUDs scores remained same from initial to terminal stage and in 147 participants (17%) it increased from initial stage to terminal stage. The results are discussed in terms of its implications for large group trauma counselling work and the challenges of such work.
