EMDR for fetish disorder and kleptomania

Description

Client Description
The client was a 37-year-old married man recently arrested for stealing high heels and masturbating in a random apartment. His wife, in the first trimester of pregnancy, encouraged him to seek medical assistance. Following a psychiatric diagnosis of fetishistic disorder with comorbid kleptomania, he was referred to psychotherapy. The client reported no manifestation of the aforementioned symptom until 2011, the year of his return from Japan. He noted the stress from studying overseas and indicated that the symptoms could result from his drifting life at that time, in conjunction with the influence of Japanese culture. He also reported being interested in high heels worn by strangers only, never new pairs or those worn by his wife. When feeling aroused, he was not able to contain his urge to steal.
