Enhancing the feeling state addiction protocol and detur with hypnosis

Description

The Feeling State Addiction (FSAP) and DeTur protocols are used for treating various types of addiction. However, these two treatment modalities may be less effective if the client and the therapist do not have a full awareness into understanding the unconscious motivations for the addictive behavior. Hypnosis can be used as a way to mediate these concerns by relying on age regression. This allows the therapist the ability to perform an autopsy of initial episodes of using, relapses, and general usage patterns. From the autopsy, the therapist and the client are able to discover triggers and cues associated with usage. Hypnosis can also be used to identify both overt and covert ego states (ego states that are not easily accessed outside of hypnosis) that perpetuate addictive behaviors. With this information, more in depth processing can occur with the FSAP and DeTur that cannot typically be achieved without hypnosis. The following presentation will provide guidelines on how to use the FSAP and DeTur while conducting and combining hypnosis. This will be used to enhance and deepen processing in EMDR. Hypnosis will be used to increase the proficiency of EMDR history taking and resource building. Case study presentations will be provided to show how to use this augmented form of the FSAP and DeTur.
