Description

EMDR offers serveral chances to improve the treatment of Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD): Therapies recommended for SAD in the German evidence-based guideline are ineffectual for many patients because the proportion of non-responders is high. Research shows that it is important to include the negative distorted self-images of patients with SAD into the treatment plan. This new book shows how to treat SAD symptoms and negative distorted self-images with EMDR and research that supports the effectiveness if EMDR for this diagnosis. Because the nature of their disorder prompts the clients to conceal their complaints for a long time, the book includes information about structured interviews and tests which are accurate enough to identify these patients for adults, children and teenagers. This should improve the problem of co-morbidity and chronification caused by the delayed onset of treatment that complicates case definition in treatment and exacerbates patient stress. All diagnostic and treatment information should lower the number of non-responders.
