Acute stress syndrome stabilization - Remote (ASSYST-R)

Description

This Adaptive Information Processing (AIP)-informed procedure is designed for patients who do not have ready access to care in person and who are outside their window of tolerance (hyper-arousal), presenting overwhelming emotions, bodily sensations or sensory input. The ASSYST-R is a stabilization procedure and not teletherapy or any other form of therapy. Therefore, it is not subject to legal restrictions. It can be administered during the first hours in which the patient shows severe symptoms of disturbance and/or deterioration in their functioning, using video conferencing programs like Skype, Zoom, WhatsApp, FaceTime, etc. The objective of this procedure is focused on the Desensitization of Symptoms of Acute Stress Syndrome (ASS), especially the intrusive somatosensory components of the potentially traumatic experience.
