Integrating positive psychology with the EMDR 8 phase protocol

Description

EMDR and Positive Psychology have a natural alliance to promote Post Traumatic Growth. By resolving historical trauma, negative beliefs and clearing the body we move " from unhappy to neutral" (Ellen Langer, Ph.D.), the historical role of psychotherapy. As EMDR clinicians, we are in a unique position to support our patients to breach old barriers, rise through old glass ceilings, and discard outgrown identities. With the integration of Positive Psychology our patients move from the possibility to secure a solid psychological foundation to launch into Post Traumatic Growth, the attainment of Maslow’s ‘full psychological height’.
