Für gehörlose Patient/-innen stehen wenige Behandler/-innen zur Verfügung, die die Gebärdensprache beherrschen. Daher ist eine Psychotherapiemethode, die nicht ausschließlich auf Verbalinterventionen basiert und von hörenden Psychotherapeut/-innen zur Behandlung gehörloser Patient/-innen eingesetzt werden kann, indiziert. Daher wurde bei einem gehörlosen Patienten mit PTBS nach einem Verkehrsunfall EMDR angewandt.

For deaf patients, there are only a few practitioners who are fluent in sign language. Therefore,
a psychotherapy method that is not based solely on verbal interventions and can
be used by hearing psychotherapists to treat deaf patients is indicated. Therefore,
EMDR was used in a deaf patient with PTSD after a traffic accident.
