While EMDR has been found to be safe and tolerable for most clients, those with medical concerns such as high blood pressure, heart conditions, seizures or a history of stroke should consult with their physician before treatment. Clients who experience dissociation should only be treated by EMDR clinicians trained to work with this population. Those with substance abuse issues should have appropriate supports in place prior to EMDR.&lt;/span&gt;</text>
