Improving marital satisfaction through treatment of one partner’s trauma using eye movement desensitization reprocessing therapy and a telebehavioral health modality: An N-of-1 controlled research trial

Description

The purpose of this study was to determine is using EMDR therapy to treat a married partner's PTSD would improve marital satisfaction. The project utilized a n-of-1 single case study design with a participant who qualified for a diagnosis of PTSD and notable marital dissatisfaction. The study also utilized a telebehavorial therapy method to deliver the EMDR modality. The design prescribed between three and twelve EMDR sessions. After the completion of seven sessions, the participant reported notable marital satisfaction and no longer qualified for the diagnosis of PTSD.
