Description

A relatively recent, unconventional kind of psychotherapy is called eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). It is becoming more and more popular, especially for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). PTSD frequently develops following traumatic events such as violent conflict, physical assault, rape, or automobile accidents.

Despite the ongoing study, EMDR is still a contentious topic for certain medical practitioners.
At first look, EMDR seems to take an unconventional approach to psychiatric problems. It does not rely on medicine or talk therapy. EMDR instead makes use of the patient's own quick, regular eye movements. The impact of emotionally charged recollections of earlier traumatic experiences is diminished by these eye movements.
