Terapia EMDR. Attachment, case conceptualization, and working with parts of the self
Description
EMDR Therapy, adopted by an ever-increasing number of psychotherapists around the world and based on the model of adaptive information processing (AIP), is an evidence-based therapeutic method that allows the processing of traumatic memories stored in a dysfunctional way within the inside the memory system. Following traumatic events, the individual's personality can shatter into dissociative parts, disconnected from each other and not integrated into consciousness, which retain all the pain experienced at the time of the trauma. This can lead to various psychopathological disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, borderline personality disorder, somatization or extreme stress disorder and others. Thanks to the desensitization and reprocessing of the traumatic memory, EMDR relieves emotional suffering, allows the reformulation of negative beliefs and reduces the patient's physiological arousal. This volume offers clinicians the tools needed to structure an intervention plan, conduct sessions and set up the different stages of treatment; it also proposes a protocol on parenting, designed specifically for therapists who deal with symptoms in the developmental age.
