EMDR, making use of theoretical references such as attachment theory, structural dissociation theory, Porges' polyvagal model and supported by validated studies on the neurobiology of the brain and on the role of the body as a vector of implicit knowledge, represents the approach methodology for the most complete treatment of trauma, because it is focused on several levels (cognitive, emotional, perceptive-bodily). The entire therapeutic process is outlined within a framework in which the therapeutic relationship appears to be both central and centered on the continuous observation of what happens between the patient's experience and the therapist's ferrying him beyond his painful past. This book explains how and why EMDR, thanks to its flexibility to integrate with other therapeutic approaches, has evolved from technique to procedure and is today a real integrative therapeutic approach.
