Experiences with the use of EMDR 2.0 with children and adolescents in an intensive model

Description

A few years ago, Ad de Jongh and Suzy Matthijssen developed techniques to enhance the EMDR Standard protocol, which they called EMDR 2.0. These techniques were based on scientific research into the working memory theory, and they started experimenting with such good outcomes, that they started to provide workshops and trainings on these techniques. In this presentation Arianne and Nienke will share their experiences with the use of these EMDR 2.0 techniques with children and young people and outline other techniques to optimise the treatment process. They will show how they use these techniques to manage dissociation and abreactions, and how to facilitate a breakthrough when young people get stuck during desensitization. Arianne and Nienke will also show the benefits of delivering EMDR in an intensive model with children with chronic trauma. Participants need to have some knowledge of EMDR 2.0 techniques, as the presenters will only discuss their experiences with the use of these techniques with children and young people and how that is different to adults.
