EMDR safety platform group protocol: Self-regulation and emotional processing with perpetrators in domestic violence

Description

Background and aims
The Safety Platform protocol (EMDR-SP), proposed as a Phase 2 EMDR strategy for complex trauma [1-4], is a set of procedures with the EMDR protocol, using exercises for vagal system and inferences about transgenerational stress and non-inclusion associated with prejudice, gender, and attachment, as processing targets before the list of traumas. The objective is to present it, with results of studies in DV.

Methods
Presentation of the protocol and results of individual application, for victims of DV, and group for aggressors.

Results
Ongoing studies show repercussions on heart rate variability, with clinical relevance, under stress conditions and emotional regulation. With aggressors, in 8 months of post-study follow-up there was no recurrence.

Conclusions
Expand sampling.

Background
•Self-regulation and affective processing difficulties, possible fragile neuropsychic construct.
•SP protocol as an EMDR Phase 2 strategy to restructure neuropsychic foundations in complex trauma.
•EMDR-SPg for DV actors, legally removed from the family as protective measure.

Method
•Samples allocated in the public court were treated individually (victims) and in groups (aggressors).
•All subjects underwent pre-post evaluation.
•Follow-up Research Questions
•Can EMDR-SP be bearable for subjects accused of aggressive behavior?
•Can the application of the EMDR-SP protocol of DV actors help to decrease the recurrence of aggression complaints? 3
