Trastorno de estrés postraumático y terapia de desensibilización y reprocesamiento por movimientos oculares Post-traumatic stress disorder and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy

Description

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a disorder in which after exposure to one or more traumatic events, a wide variety of symptoms are presented, such as persistent re-experiencing of the trauma, behavioral and cognitive avoidance of the stimuli associated with the traumatic event, and baseline hyperarousal. One of the most commonly used treatments for its intervention is eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, recommended today as an effective treatment for PTSD by: the American Psychiatric Association (APA), the International Society for the Study of Traumatic Stress (ISTSS), the World Health Organization (WHO) and the NICE guidelines. EMDR therapy is a structured psychotherapeutic treatment consisting of eight phases (Hensley, 2010; Shapiro, 2001). In this systematic review, we seek to respond to the degree of efficacy of EMDR in the intervention for the population with PTSD symptoms compared to other psychological interventions.
