A meta-analysis to determine the most effective treatment Option between CBT, EMDR, and exposure therapy for military veterans with combat-related PTSD
Description
The researcher conducted a meta-analysis by investigating the current literature to determine the most effective treatment option among CBT, EMDR, and Exposure therapy for military veterans with combat-related PTSD. The results of the analysis did not support the researcher's hypothesis that CBT would have a larger cumulative effect size than EMDR or exposure therapy. The author's second hypothesis that EMDR would produce a larger effect size than exposure therapy was also not supported in this study. The researcher recommends that further research needs to be conducted that incorporates both cognitive and behavioral treatments with the use of psychotropic medications to treat this disorder.
