Somatic is for every therapist: Possibilities and practical tools for bringing the body into your EMDR therapy

Description

While the original EMDR text speaks to the importance of the body in the AIP and EMDR processing, clinicians are often confused about the role of the body in EMDR. We can easily address these challenges by giving EMDR clinicians knowledge about somatic theories, simple somatic interventions to incorporate into their EMDR therapy, and a model of how to meld the information together in their practice. The target audience for this presentation is an intermediate to advanced EMDR clinician who has an adequate understanding of the 8 Phases and 3 prongs of EMDR therapy, as this presentation will assist EMDR clinicians incorporate somatic interventions with EMDR.
