本書は、被虐待児の治療で有名なあいち小児保健医療総合センターで、チームを組んで長年臨床心理士として治療にあたってきた著者の被虐待児への心理臨床の集大成である。被虐待児は愛着の形成過程に問題が多く、病的解離の症状を呈することも多い。そのため心理治療は困難な面が多く、医師・看護師・福祉士などと協同して働きかけなくてはならない。様々な試みの紹介と、子どものこころが開かれてゆくことを通して親子関係の改善にまで通じる心理臨床の貴重な症例が収められている。
