Treating a dissociative Vietnam vet with LOUA & CIPOS, with 16 year follow-up

Description

This presentation will illustrate the use of the methods of Level of Urge to Avoid (LOUA) and Constant Installation of Present Orientation and Safety (CIPOS) in the treatment of a severely dissociative Vietnam veteran with dysfunctional childhood experiences, and significant repeated combat trauma. Variations in client response to CIPOS, along with suggested therapist responses, will be illustrated. Case description will be supplemented with video segments from therapy in the 1990s, and a 16 year follow-up in 2012.
